Visiting Friends and Tasting Wines

I love to travel. I think I'm a well-traveled person who has already explored at least three continents and several countries. In fact, although I hold a German passport, I was born and raised in Argentina and feel like a foreigner in Goethe's land. Of course, I also love visiting friends and drinking wine. That's what we're all about here!

So, last weekend, while strolling through Madrid, I did little more than that: visited friends, ate a lot of delicious food, and tasted some excellent wines.

Tasting Foster Lorca's Malbecs

On Friday afternoon, I met up with Carola, a woman from Mendoza who I have no doubt will become one of my best friends in this universe, and tried three wines that I already have in my inventory. I say, the best thing a wine seller can do is taste the wines they sell. And those they don't sell, too. I liked Foster Lorca's wines. And I liked the winery's story even more, so I'll share it here.

Enrique Foster founded the winery and hired Mauricio Lorca as winemaker and general manager in 2002. Over time, Mauricio, who already had a distinguished career at renowned wineries like Luigi Bosca, decided to start making his own wines alongside his work at Foster's winery, eventually leading to what is now known as Bodega Foster Lorca. With premium wines without oak aging, the winery positions itself as a pioneer, increasingly embracing sustainability and staying true to the expression of the terroir.

These are the three wines I tried and really enjoyed:

Tasting Wines I Don’t Sell - Rioja Wines

On Sunday, I was at my cousin Charlie’s, a wine enthusiast who worked for years in the vineyards of the Bordeaux region. Among other things, he told me that, although like every Argentine he loves Malbecs, in Spain he finds delicious wines at a price that he considers very competitive. In this case, we tried some Rioja wines from Costco (Kirkland Signature), which are replicas of other wines on the market, bottled for them at a much more affordable price.

I must confess that I liked them too, but I won’t sell them because we’ve all tried Spanish wines already, and I want you to discover New World wines, especially Argentine Malbec, which I think is among the best you’ll find. You might say there are great wines everywhere, as my cousin told me. And that’s true, everyone chooses what they like best. But as I say, “belonging has its privileges,” and while you already know Spanish wines, you’ll be the first to discover those from Argentina. And being the first at something is no small thing.

How You Can Try Them

Of course, all the wines on the site can be purchased. Just send me a WhatsApp message WhatsApp, and in a few days, you’ll have them at your doorstep. However, Carola suggested something very interesting: I’m going to put together surprise packs with 3 or 6 New World wines at a special discount so you can start this journey without spending a fortune.

Soon, you’ll find a special section on the site to subscribe and start receiving a pack of 3 or 6 wines every month. No tricks, no fine print: you try them and let me know if you want to keep exploring or stick with your favorite wines. I promise I won’t let you down… even though, as an Argentine, I must say we’ve heard that before. So, 3 or 6 wines at a discounted price every month.

Want to be the first? Send me a WhatsApp message now WhatsApp, and I’ll sign you up!
